Where in N.C. are you from & what counties do you hunt in?
 
I live outside Hillsborough and hunt in Granville, Orange, & Durham Counties. I used to live in Chatham and hunted there for years.

i live in Apex.  I plan on hunting some in Wake county this year, but mostly Bertie and Nash county

There are some birds around the lake near Apex. The trick is finding some others aren't pressuring. 'Course Bertie has plenty of birds without all the people. Good luck.

I live near Charlotte. I hunted in Caswell, Clevland, Gaston, Ruthford, and  Montgomery Counties.

I live near Jackson, N.C. I hunt mostly all along the roanoke river in Northampton County,Halifax County, Bertie County, and some in Martin county. I have also taken birds in Virginia and South Carolina. Hope to make the Florida road trip next year. I'm too busy spraying wheat this year to make it.

I just found this forum so this is my first post here. I just moved to Raleigh this year and am at NC State. My hope is to check out some of the public land that is within a reasonable distance. Can anyone recommend a good place to start in this area? I am not looking for anyones secret spots but just general help with which of the public places are better than others. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I realized earlier today that all of game lands in the area are permit only, and I just missed the deadline. I guess it is not too early to be thinking about next year.
