I came across this beauty very recently from Tom Crook, of Mississippi Scratch Box Turkey Calls. He has been building these scratch boxes since 1989, and this is a great little scratcher for sure!
Its ambrosia maple, and #2 of 2 in this wood. It has a mineral-stained poplar striker, and a straight cut sound board, versus a rounded sound board on many other scratch boxes I've seen.
It sounds terrific -- nice raspy yelp, perfect little clucks, and a sweet sounding purr.
Clearly I've been bitten by the scratch box bug...gonna be a good spring...
I can't stop picking it up, running it, and staring at it -- its beautiful wood, complete with worm holes!
A very good looking call, don't you think?
