Well it's notGobbzilla but I finally had a morning where it all went right and I killed an 18 1/2 pound super jake. My buddy went along this morning and we went to Gobbzilla's roosting area. We were in before first light and i pushed it so I'd be in the bedroom door, if they were home. Soon after it was gray light I thought I could see a silhouette in a tree aff to my left but I wasn't sure. Finally it was light and I could barely make out a bird moving in the tree. About that time a bird clucks real loud down in front of me and the bird I can gobbles three time in a row. I wait and wait but all he does is sit in the tree. So finally I think well let's try Scott's keeyelp call and sure enough he whips around on that limb and starts looking. Right then my buddy answers my keeyelp from behind me. Ole turk couldn't stand that so down he comes and hit's the ground at 22 steps from. He never made it beyond that point, he died right there. I retrieved my bird and walked back to my buddy and another gobbler sounds off so we set. These two some how slipped right by us and kept on moving.
We went to another spot and stumbled into a group of three gobblers. There was no chance of a shot for John so we busted them. A half hour later we had them yelping and gobbling all around us, but it was so thick he couldn't get a shot. Three times they moved off and we reset and called them in and John never could see one good enough to shoot. We both had to get in so we left them gobbling and will go back another day.
attached are a couple of photos. I didn't have anyone to take my picture so it's just the bird and Ginger ....she was quite pleased with her dad and she got her usual turkey legg.
