Poults 2012

Postby Turkeybuster » August 10th, 2012, 9:37 pm

Looks like a good hatch this year from the reports I am getting has anybody been seeing birds this summer.
The acorn crop looks good also if we don't get a lot of hot dry weather in the coming month. Hopefully we will have a good hunting season this fall.

Jon, That is good to hear, I have not been upstate since the spring season and others that go up on a regular basis have not seen much yet. Grass and weeds are high in a lot of places and the corn still is up. Hope you have a great fall season and let me know how you make out.

Well the acorns survived the heat and the crop is excellent. The birds will be on the move so it is going to take some walking to find them as they won't be concentrated in specific feeding areas.
The hatch was a good one this year with lot's of young bird's out there I don't think the season will ever get here.

Bob your right about the call's I was lucky enough to catch the Roanoke trumpet's Ralph posted yesterday I got the African Blackwood minutes after it was advertised. All three were gone in 12 hrs.
My wife has been under the weather and had a hitch in the hospital and I never did make it to camp. The turkey situation look's good around here with lot's of feed. I have a notion that the bird's are going to be hard to find as they are not staying in one particular area with the feed situation. Are you going to camp? I hope to get up when the season come's in but it depends my wife's health. Hope you have a good fall season and be safe.
