My favorite box call, is one Lamar Williams made for me. I sent him some English Yew Wood a few years back and he built me a three call set from it. All three are killer calls, but my vest call is done in the Old Hen style check pattern.

My first box call was given to me by the late Ben Lee ( Twin Hen ). My first custom box was from Don Sitton. After many great calls I now use a Albert Paul short box and either Lamar Williams long box I have had for years, or a Darrin Dawkins long box.

I love my box call that I got made from SS Custom Calls. Its hundarus mohgany with a maple lid and they did their signature brick check.

Always a great question.There are so many great ones out there and today there are so many custom call makers to choose from, When I first started my favorite was a Ben Lee champion gobble box call. However, when he passed away, I retired that call.

Today, my go to box call is a Mike Lapp short box in Black Limba and Yellow Heart. What a great call


I have a long box from Mike that is unreal but I have a bunch of signatures on it from call makers that were in Nashville, I don't use it in the woods. I do really enjoy long box calls and I have several that I hunt with, Ed Terefencko, Tim Bullock, Mark McLaughlin to name a few. All great calls that have turkey under my belt using them.

Favorite boxcall is the Lynch World Champion. Makes nice hens sounds on one side and gobblers sounds on the other. Gobbles nice too I plan on getting a Lynch with the second amendment on it though, the name of it eludes me right now.
