Cleaning capes

I have 3 turkey capes hanging on the wall that needs a good cleaning. Does anyone know what I can use and do to get the capes to look like they did when they came off the birds. They are not in bad shape but just need a good dusting and something to put the shine back in them. I tried using the brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner on them gently and it did ok but not quite good enough. So if anyone has any tips Im all ears.

Have you tried one of those swiffer dusters? I use one on the fans & deer head I have in the man cave and it does a pretty good job.

I just use a "feather duster" .. works great, and what could be better

i know my taxidermist in KS said a feather duster & after you do that & get all the dust off u can take a wash cloth & put a lil wind dex/water soulution beleave it or not on the wash cloth then wipe it down??? i have never tried it so do that at ur own risk but they said it makes ur mounts deer & turkeys shine???

Thanks for the tips. I will give the dusters a try. I have a cape out in the building that I messed up on while capping and try the windex on it just to make sure.

yeah i would try it on a old cape i know they said u do not want to saok the feathers down so let me know if it works we have major construction going on at my home & i will have to dust my half body wall mount when all is done

I thought you were talking about cleaning one right after caping...so...don't put it in the bathtub as earlier mentioned

as mentioned ......feather duster or swiffer normally works well enough....if water becomes involved you'll just need to blow dry it

also forgot to mention a can of air that the use to clean camera lenses & what not will also come in hnady sometimes more if you have a turkey head to clean they become hard to clean in cracks & around eyes nose ETC...
