A friend from FL. send me some wood to make him a pot call out of. He said he wanted a pot call that has a deep throated rasp in it, that he could use for gobbler or jake talk if he wanted too. This is what I came up with, it's a Magnolia pot with Bronze glass over African blackwood soundboard. This call has a high pitched start and rolls over into some of the deepest rasp I've ever heard. You can run it from a young hen to an old gobbler, she will get nasty if you get on it. The cutts are sharpe and clear and the kee kee is a nice soft whistle, but the yelps is where this call really stands out, it will gobbler yelp better than any box I've ever heard, and with that high pitched start to the yelps you can really get a young hen or boss hen out of it. This was the first time trying this wood combo, but you can bet there will be one in my vest come fall season.
