Danged if I know.

There are turkeys in WI. Some years more, some years less. Every year some of them get shot

Brilliant deduction Watson...er I mean Gopher!
Charlie I had a 5th season tag in zone 3 go unfilled. I did call a bird in on my last day to hunt there and missed him at 25 yards...

...but lets not dwell on THAAT...eh?

I think turkey hunting withdrawl is affecting these deep posts!!

Now what makes you think that, this entire thread makes perfect sense to me.
If anyone wants to read the complete unedited WDNR press release I posted here
http://www.charlieelk.com/?p=178I have been debating Scott Walter about which method of calculating success rates is more reflective of what is really happening out in the turkey woods. He likes the number of permits sold to number of registered turkeys instead of the number of hunters to the registered birds.
I see the pros and cons to each method. Thinking about it gets me to wondering what exactly is hunter success ratio anyway? With where we are today in WI is it relevant?
If a hunter has 10 tags and fills even one; well there was a time a gobbler per spring was great, but now?
