first gobbles in 10

Postby turkaholic » March 20th, 2010, 2:44 am

Herd the first gobbles on 3/18/ right on time. Warm weather in the 70's this week brought strutters out hot and heavy. I had 4 long beards and 6 hens in breeding mode in my horse pasture yesterday. This morning I herd at least 5 seperate gobbling groups of birds. Untill this week I thought they were all dead.

Hope that warm weather last week didn't screw up the season like last year. My son came home from school Friday (3/19) to see 30 turkeys, 5 long beards and a couple of Jakes in the backyard. He sat and watch them for 30 minutes. Need less to say he is excited for the 4/17 and 4/24...And all of May.
