Do you shoot turkeys

Postby trkynut54 » February 4th, 2009, 4:01 am

When they are in full strut or when their neck is extended?

I want them to have there head periscoped up neck stretched out. I aim for the area where the feathers start on his neck squeeze the trigger and cut him a flip.

Every effort besides one that spook the bird should be taken to ensure a bird leaves strut before slappin the trigger. Bigger target =s better % shot.

I like them with their neck extended. I shot one while he was in strut and he got away from me. That was 10 years ago, never done it since.

I shot at one at 16yds in fullstrut looking straight at me..I cleanly missed probably due to nerves and a tight pattern...That broke me from the habit never again...I did succed in hitting the decoy though..Decoys are hard to deep fry though..
