The birds are pretty talkative and responding well to calling. Seeing less hens so I am assuming more are on their nests. We killed a nice 2 year old this morning and my nephew miss judged the yardage and missed a real nice bird. If he was the bird I think he was he is at least a 4 year old that we call Butterball!! He walks at least another day. That bird hung up at 80 yards and we worked him for an hour. He gobbled every minute or less. He had to have gobbled 100 times, but we didn't have time to put out a decoy or I think he would have met his demise. He did put on a really nice show though so it was a good afternoon.
Going out in the morning with Brian Lovett so really looking forward to hunting with him. Hopefully the birds cooperate. The property we are going to start on has had little pressure and there have been 6-8 gobblers there consistantly. Only thing shot this year there was a bearded hen. Time for bed!!
