Turkey Virgins heading to WY Black Hills

Postby Markomyt1 » January 20th, 2013, 11:30 pm

I am trying to get together a group of guys that have never bagged a turkey.
Not looking for a guided hunt, but stumble around ourselves ;-)
We might hole up in Hulett and try the National Forest... can anyone give us a little intel on the area?
Is it better up north or down south, etc.

Thanks in advance,

-Mark-

I have hunted the Hills on the SD side twice and WY side 3 times.. My first trip to WY was about 6-7 years ago, best turkey hunting I have ever seen.. Did not get back there until 12 I would say the turkey population in that area is down 75 percent.. That is no joke I think it was the winter of 10 that whacked them..

This year is shaping up the same from what I can tell out there.. Intellicast snow cover map is still showing 2+ feet in the Hills.. With a winter like this go late so that the snow is gone and the birds move out of private and in the hills.
