Turkey Virgins heading to WY Black Hills

I am trying to get together a group of guys that have never bagged a turkey.
Not looking for a guided hunt, but stumble around ourselves ;-)
We might hole up in Hulett and try the National Forest... can anyone give us a little intel on the area?
Is it better up north or down south, etc.
