Got one Thursday the 15th. Came to the call shortly after flydown, just like in the videos. Only 20 pounds, but it was a satisfying hunt shared with good friends. My partner got a 22-pounder that afternoon.

Hey Scott, 1st turkey down on thursday the 22nd. 23lb 2oz. 10 and 3 quarter beard with about 1 inch spurs. Sorry no pic's forgot camera again! I chased a hard sore throat sounding gobbler on wednesday for about two hours strait 8am to 10 am but he never came closer than 50 to 60 yards, never saw him either. I think he busted me on my second attempt to reposition on him. He was gobbling at me still while I was  circuling him, but I didn't circle far enough! Hunted in blind later on wed. 3.30 to 7 pm, heard and seen nada! Thursday morning heard about 6 to 8 birds gobbling 300 yards north of my 1st set-up. I stayed there anyway because I have called them over to this small field in the past from about the same distance. After flydown the birds headed farther away and quit gobbling soon after. I only stayed put for 45 minutes and headed towards them 200 yards,set out 1 hen decoy and called 2 hours-nada.I then went to another spot for 2 more hours-nothing. I decided to move again and dropped off a field edge trail into a logged over area (select cut) that was very open dropping off to more crop fields below 250 yards away. I set up on a round knoll that dropped off in 3 directions. Any bird that came in uphill to me would be in shooting distance immediatly at 35 yards. I made a couple of calls, moved my seat a little to get a better right handed shot position to the terrain and made 2 more calls. I was there for only 5 minutes when here comes a white head over the rise almost directly in line where I was aiming! Sneaking in silent he never uttered a sound. The only problem for him ,was I saw him first. I moved as slow as I could getting the red dot on his neck just as he moved towards me uphill he went into strut. When he broke strut looking for the hen I put the hammer down at 30 yards. Amazing, call for hours and finish with a 5 minute hunt!

Shot my very first bird Thursday April 23rd at 5:40 a.m. in Medford. It was also my first bird that I roosted as well. Tree called on the roost then shut up until he flew down. Did one series of yelps, they ran in and BOOM! Everything went perfect and it's nice to get that monkey off my back. 20 pounder with a 8 inch beard and 1/2 inch spurs. Nothing huge but I loved every minute of it. 3 more tags to go! Good luck to everyone else. (sorry about the picture quality, it was my cell phone)

Sure does gutpiler! It doesn't always happen like that so I made it a point to enjoy it as much as possible. I was on private land so I think I got a little spoiled that morning. My next three weekends will be spent on hard hunted public land around WI Rapids so I'm sure I'll get put back into my place with a dose of reality. Good luck to whoever has tags left!
