I ran into one of those tough to hunt loud mouth roosting center of the field turkeys during the last season in WI. The field is a large 300 acre freshly planted very little cover type field and the turkey loved to get in the middle and taunt me.
This is how I setup and it worked twice on 2 different gobblers in 2 days.
The first gobbler was very close to the end of the barrel- his head became pink mist making him not so photogenic.
The second gob was a little further out and made for a better picture.
More on the hunt is on my blog at http://www.charlieelk.com/2014/tough-to ... ass-setup/
I use no decoys with a setup like this and find it more effective than blinds with decoy spreads. Probably because blinds make me claustrophobic causing me to move too soon.
