Quick morning hunt

Postby Gopherlongbeards » May 3rd, 2014, 8:55 am

I don't have a tag for WI 3rd season, but a friend of mine did and said he wouldn't mind a little help this morning, so with the forecast looking good we decided to head out. Tried a piece of public land I hadn't been on yet this spring and heard a bird gobbling on the roost just off the property. We set up on him and got him pretty worked up before he flew down. He picked up a couple of hens right after hitting the ground so we switched over to kee kee's and lost yelping and brought the girls right in. He tagged along behind strutting the entire way and my buddy shot him at 20 yards. Was a typical 2 yr old. 7/8" spurs and 10" beard. Was back home for breakfast by 7:45.

Nice job on calling that bird in for your friend.
Is it turkey season yet?
