Places to hunt

For some time I have been looking for a good place to hunt in SC.  I live in the Fort Mill area and have had to hunt on public land the last few years with no luck on finding those elusive birds.  I am a responsible hunter who abides by all laws and believes in respecting others property.  Does anyone know of any private property where someone could get permission to hunt for a few days each year?  I completley understand people do not want to give up, or is some cases share their private hunting spots.  I can't afford $600 to $1,000 a year to join a hunt club for the privelage to hunt for just one month.  I also would not be the type, that once I got access to hunt on someone's property, to be showing up every day.  For the most part I would be hunting a maximum of 5 - 6 days out of the season.  Any help or suggestions would be great.  Thanks.
