Saw a hen while golfing Sunday. Just mozzing on through clucking the whole way.

I have been seeing a hen and 10 poults in the past week the poults are about as big as a chicken.
The grasshoppers are showing up that should bring the birds to the fields.

Friends of mine that went to camp in Bradford County has seen some great looking flocks this weekend (8/20/11). That is great with all the rain we have been having.

The birds have been showing up here in the last couple weeks I have seen young birds this week almost full grown down to about six weeks old. I think there is something wrong with this picture. The gobblers are starting to flock up too but I have never seen young birds this small. Looks like they made it though Hurricane and all.

I have never seen such young poults, this late in the season. Unfourtantely if we have a rough winter, I don't see the young ones surviving.

If the weather holds off until the end of December they have a good chance but if it is early you are right they are in trouble. Another wait and see year I guess. These young birds had to come from a second and some from a third nesting. What do you think?

Yeah. At the least a late original nesting. If not a second and third.

Gonna be a hard fall hunt around these parts. Won't be harvesting any hens with "teenage" birds around...and it seems like they will go hand in hand this fall.

Despite a wet/humid Sept., it looks like October will bring some very cold streaks. Lil worried about the young birds of interior PA and NY.
