Welcome to the forum, freeballer.
Don't know why they are gobbling for you. This is where you have to really use your eyes. Often, they'll come in silent. It's just the way it is, sometimes. Also listen for clucks, purrs, and very soft yelps as they come looking for the source of your calls. The high winds may have something to do with it, I don't know. Finally, there may not be any birds in your immediate hunting area these last few days.
