First off welcome to the forum. For me afternoon hunts are great but also from what I have learned it mostly depends on the birds in your area. At one farm I hunt the latest I will see a gobbler is around 1 pm and they move off to another farm and all I will see is hens feeding here and there. At another farm I will see the gobblers all day with or without hens. Hunting in the afternoon is like hunting in the mornings some days you will find one hot and some days you don't. Now this just my opinion from what I've seen, just because a gobbler is by himself in the midde of the day or in he afternoon doesn't mean he's desperate for a girlfriend. If you have the chance to hunt in the afternoons I would strongly recommend to do it. You never know when mister lonely will be there looking for you.
