Daniel Garcia call

I have a push-rod type call with the words "Handcrafted by Daniel Garcia" on the side. It doesn't sound great -- I think the friction point is worn out, or maybe the spring is weak.

Two questions -- is there any way to restore the sound of a push-rod call? And has anyone ever heard of a Daniel Garcia call?

Is this a wood on wood call?  If so, have you chalked the panel?  I know it is probably a stupid question, but chalk can help add friction to the two pieces of wood and provide a better sound.  If the call isn't visibly worn, it should be fixable.  You mentioned the spring might need replacing.  Is the spring a single wire spring or a coiled spring.  I doubt it is the spring, but stranger things have happened.  You should be able to bend the spring to give it more tension.  Whatever you do, try each fix a little at the time.
