Ok gang, this isn't my turkey ( I haven't tagged one yet this season) but one of our active chapter members of the Southern Tier chapter of the NWTF thinks it'll be neat to see his posted. He's not puter literate so I volunteered to post them.
Sat. morn a couple of our guys took him out and he missed one that was called into him. For the rest of the weekend he was bummed. Especially since he missed with others watching. But even at 70 years old, he wasn't about to give up. So Mon. morn he grabbed his gear, hiked to the top of the hill on another parcel and at 5am ready to do battle. It didn't take long and 2 toms came walking across the field towards him and when the one tom spotted his deke, he came just like he was on a leash. One shot was all it took. By 6 am he was making his way off the hill. Here it is a day later and he's still on cloud 9.
His bird weighed 19 lbs, a 9 1/2" beard but the best part was the 1 1/2" spurs which age it around 5-6 years.
I don't think he was the dom tom cause the other bird didn't attack him when he was down. So I told him to let it rest for 2-3 days and then go back try for the other one.
Opps, gotta resize the pics to send.
