The morning of the hunt, he was roosted just inside the woods near a big field on the farm I was hunting, and stood on the limb gobbling for over 45 minutes before finally flying down. Instead of flying into the field and making for an easy hunt for me, he flew into the woods and henned up immediately. Long story short, a couple of hours later I killed him by stalking into the woods and sneaking within gun range.
The first two pics are from the day of the kill.
The last 4 pics are him now on the wall of my man cave.
I couldn't be happier about the great job the taxidermist did with him. I'm also pumped about the upcoming season which starts 4/21 here. If I'm lucky enough to get a bird this year, he's going into my new smoker instead of to the taxidermist.
