setup at 2:30 in a harvested soybean field. One of the most windy days of hunting ive ever experienced. Used an old box call that my grandpa used when I was a kid and setup a jake and hen decoy. Shot this big bird at 4pm. called him in with three jakes following. Once they saw the jake decoy with the hen, the hunt was in the books. I could barely hear him gobble it was so windy and my hen decoy kept spinning circles as they approached. This was an old bird weighing 23lbs sporting a 10.75 inch beard and 1 3/8 hooks. I hunted him for a while last season, having harvested two others before he even made it to the same field and couldnt get him to commit the first week of the SC season. Goes to show that a locked up bird one day might come running in the next. Everyday is different.
My brother is getting him full body mounted to display in his house.
