Late this past season I knew birds were around. Calling and responding produced nothing due (I believe) to the fact that it was late Spring season and the Tom's were pretty well educated. But on my last two hunts I spotted birds on my way out of the woods. One within 25 yards had no idea I was on the planet. The other was on the other side of my truck standing in the middle of the road. In short, you shouldn't let your guard down until you have a bird over your shoulder. And even then you can keep a sharp eye out for possible bird locations to return to the next day.
RESPOND: How many times have you been "busted" as you disappointedly left your set-up? OR-How many times have you filled a tag while on the move?
