Question for the Indiana hunters......I`ll be turkey hunting the Owen-Putnam state forest in west-central Indiana, and wonder how you guys call.......I`ve heard some (novice) callers call LOUD and OFTEN, but it seems like the more experienced guys call VERY softly and not very often.
What`s your experience calling here in the Hoosier state?

I usually keep it quite and not very often. Also depends on the mood of the ol' tom.

It depends on the Tom. They have moods like we do. I'd start by calling softer and then work up. You also can be aggressive but stay lower volume. The best thing to do is sound real. I have been listening to some CD's of live turkeys and my cadence has improved and my tone has too.
