Prettiest subspecies

Postby Spurred » April 8th, 2008, 7:34 am

What do you think is the prettiest subspecies. I'm a big fan of Merriams, and I know many others are, too. If I were ever to put a gobbler on the wall, I think it would definitely be a Merriams. Anybody prefer one of the other subspecies?

howdy spurred,
i think that all species of turkey are beautiful in there own way, however, the merriam species is probably the prettiest.

Figured I better make a comment here on the new site just to see how things are working.
As for the prettiest birds, they are all gorgeous in their own ways, but if I had to pick just one, I guess I would have to choose the Merriams/Goulds (they are almost identical in appearance).  All the rest are a very close second, though.

I agree with you guys on this one!  Have you guys seen the episode of Turkey Call where they were hunting the 'Oscilated" ones down in central America somewhere?  Those birds dont gobble like ours do but it looks like they took a longbeard and breeded it with a peacock! [:D]  They are very beautiful turkeys but i'm more of a traditional guy and Merriams get my vote!
