Bagged my first of the season on Sat. Was in a very small woods behind a cemetary.7 hens and their tom walked into the woods from a field. I was crouched behind a big tree just waiting for the tom to go by. The last hen made me but did not sound the alarm. She looked and looked and clucked a little but could not figure me out. Thank goodness for mossy oak! When mister tom stepped into view I slowly raised and fired, all under the eyes of this one hen. The tom was 18 paces from me, the hen closer. My heaviest bird to date. 21 lbs. 9 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs.
