ok folks,do you wear your vest when fall hunting or just in the spring ? if so what items are in it ?if not what all do you stuff in those pockets?
if you could only have one style of call in the fall,what would it be?

I wear my vest....I have my regular calls....plus a leash and hunting horn for the dog...couple Snickers for me and liver treats for him....[:D]

in fall, again depends on the temp. I bought an oversize camo shirt and folded the tail up on the inside and stitched it in strategic spots to create pockets . it'll carry alot without the added weight of the vest .
In the spring season we only hunt till noon. I generally do alright even if i'm carrying a pretty good load of clothing and vest. In the fall i try to dress as light as possible in order to last longer in the woods.
But , on those days when its not too cold nor too hot I always enjoy the vest when it's time to take a snooze in the woods.
most favored hunt? bare essentials. 45-65 degrees . just enough grub and water . 4 shells and 1 mouth call,,,,,,,,,and the 12 bore twins.

I hunt with my vest in the spring and fall carrying one box call 2glass calls and alot of mouth calls water and food,because we have to walk a long ways in the woods looking for the birds.

Hey Ken,

I've become a "minimalist" hunter both in the Spring and the Fall. I may wear a vest but only for the benefit of the game bag in the back for carrying out a turkey.

My hunting pants have big pockets and I'll carry what I need in them. I usually carry a scratch type call of some type, a couple extra mouth calls, 3 extra shells, toilet paper, little candy bars, license & tag(s) and that's about it.

I like to be as light and quick as possible. That's a real change from the way I hunted in the past but it works better for me these days.

well usually i dont wear mine in the fall,this year i think ill start the contents will probably be as follows:
a pocket full of hoosier hunter mouth calls
a hoosier hunter double sided slate call
a pocket full of my own hand spun strikers
a hoosier hunter box call (butter nut & mohagony)
a roberts bros. slate
pocket knife
turkey tote
a pack of tom boggins
a 20 oz. dr.pepper
granola bars (oats&honey)
a hen decoy
well i think thats it,i dont know maybe the bathroom sink,i dont think it will hold the one in the kitchen

not in my vest,i have one of the mossberg tactical shotguns that has the shell holder on the stock.

like clark i dont carry much two pot calls both primos one slate the other glass three strikers five shells a pop bottle full of water and lastly a baling twine to carry any unlucky turkeys home with.
