ORIGINAL: wisturkeyhunter

Alot of killable birds survive because people give up with the excuse of them being call shy, or henned up.

" . . . and how many good bucks die from henpecked wives and ducks fall from the sky to a job grown lost and a life that's unfullfilled? I'll tell ya, kid." said old Ambrose, "The woods is where it all comes out. I tell ya' there's stuff in a man's heart that can only be told to the animals he hunts. That's the truth of it."

from "Virtual Deer Camp" an participatory online novel

It just reminded me of that quote.  That's all.  I guess what got my mind to thinking (bad habit) was that when you get to looking at the excuses for hunting the birds, you also gotta look at the reasons we have for going out to hunt 'em in the first place.  Half-hearted reasons for hunting leave room for half-hearted reasons for going home early.

I hear that Shaman, great quote, I like that one!!!!

Alot of folks that I know that hunt turkeys will also add in the age old,

"there was a creek or tree fellings between us".

Guess that's a poor setup. hmm
"After eating an entire moose, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut."

The wife doesn't like mounts on the wall, they don't match the decor.
