Are you cutting back on hunts this year?

Postby NTBNB » March 5th, 2009, 8:29 am

I'm an outfitter in Nebraska and have had more than a dozen hunters "postpone" their trip out here due to the current economic conditions. I'm wondering if any of you that normally do hunting trips are cutting back this year or are you going hunting no matter what? I'd have to say the current conditions haven't really hit Nebraska that hard, at least I didn't think so. One group of hunters all lost their jobs this year, is it really bad where you're at? Thanks

It is getting bad all over.  Remember the great depression stories your grandparents or parents used to tell.  Well, I am afraid we are all going to have great depression stories of our own to tell.  They say it builds character.
Why be good when you can B-Mobile or Spin & Strut.

I think it's bad everywhere, people are just whistlin through the graveyard right now IMO.

I have cut back my expectations quite a bit, but as long as I get to hunt my home state I will feel blessed.

I agree, "Turbulent times are often followed by peace and tranquility, but you must have faith to weather the storm."

maybe the outfitters need to run a special on their hunts this year...a reduction in income is better than no income

trkyklr- I hear you there, and we have cut our prices but it hasn't helped yet. I also think the fact that there are sooo many turkeys around anymore is causing a reduction in the turkey guide business. Lucky thing guiding isn't my only source of income, this year i'd be hurtin for certain. All our rifle deer hunts went like wild fire, but all the rest of the hunts are much slower to sell.
