Well, at present I don’t think there are any openings—they only have 1 or 2 guys per state. However, I don’t think that’s going to stop you from getting involved.

What I would suggest is that you go to

index.php

. . . and join the forum. The way I got to be a pro-staffer was hanging out there and sharing my stories and advice. One thing led to another and now I get to walk around with a camo hat with the name of the website on it.

I’ll get on today and let folks know you’re coming. Be sure to have a good story about that gobbler you shot.

Write soon. Write often.

So, y'all are on notice. Giles is a-coming. Treat him proper.

KYGobbler:

You just don't get the spirit of the whole DST thing.

This year, I've got Scooter, my intern at the Black Hole Institute a set of GPS-enabled basal temperature probes. They use cell-phone technology to send the data back to our command center. All Scooter has to do is plant these in the gobbler and let them go. We'll finally be able to get some real data on how DST changes affect the adult gobbler. Of course, they're expensive devices, so we ran out of grant money before we could purchase the traquilizer bait. Scooter is going to have to run out there and get them into the gobbler all on his own.

I gotta say, that boy has pluck!

Oh, I got it alright.

Instead of buying tranquilizer bait, reverse the transmission of your high tech recorder. If you send out a high pitch frequency you can stun the birds long enough to put the transmitters on.

    Drat!
I guess he never showed. Oh well (sigh!)

I suppose I he just could not hack the pro-staffer requirements .

Be able to sit motionless for 6 hours while sitting on an anthill.
Wrestle a live turkey gobbler on one leg.
. . . dang! it's been so long I forget the rest of the test.

    Help me out

You forgot, carrying your gun, a bag of 5 full size decoys, your pop up blind, two chairs, your lunch bucket, waring a vest full of calls, up a 85 degree hill in the rain, in the dark silently without spooking the turkeys :P .
