Too nasty outside

Postby kygobbler » December 6th, 2013, 10:04 pm

Since it has been raining all day and freezing up I figured I would finish some small projects today. I finished the cape of the gobbler I took back in October, touched up some spurs and made them look nice, and put some brass on some beards. I didn't have enough brass for all the beards so I guess I need to go shoot some rounds off. Plus, I have some beards that are too big to fit in the brass case, so I need to figure what I am going to do to them.

Even though I wasn't able to do any scouting today for tomorrows opening day at least I could find something to help with my addiction to such a beautiful bird.

Make hay when the sun shines, do taxidermy when it doesn't :D Go to a plumbing store and get some copper pipe caps. I think 3/4 is about 13/16 ID.
Good way to use a nasty day.

Thanks guys.

David, I assumed none of the kids would want to go hunting yesterday since it was so cold and windy. About noon one of them called me and asked if we could go hunting. I told her sure and I would be there in 30 minutes. After hunting for an hour and a half I could see her face getting red and asked her if she wanted to head back home. She said yes. It isn't ideal hunting conditions but if a kid wants to go you go regardless. We didn't see any turkeys and got cold but we still had a good time.

That's a great looking project you have going there Bryan. Bet you had a great time collecting all the raw materials for the project :D . You are so right, if a youngster wants to go to the woods to hunt or fish.....make time to take them!!!
