Yep. That's pretty much what we did-- go to THE spot and wait.

I'd say a third of the mornings I was close enough to the turkeys to hear fly-down from start to finish. On another third, the gobblers were sounding off, but waaaaay off the property. The real killer was that for a good third of the mornings, there was just dead silence.

Everyone I talked to said this was the strangest year they'd seen.

Wow you guys have a short season :o 23 days for everyone? I guess in MN we only have 5-7 days per time period but there are 8 time periods from mid April to late May.
