Just got word that our host and landowner in Missouri, Tommy Greenstreet, passed away this week while working on his beloved farm. He was 71. My father and I had a turkey lease on Tommy's 450 acre farm of hayfields, cow pastures and mixed woodlots for 10 years.
Tommy was a gent in the first degree, loved a good yarn and good company. His signature comment after hearing a turkey tale was "Is thaaat right?" You would be hard pressed to find a harder working or more honest man and he looked forward to hosting our turkey camp year. When Dad could no longer make it up the big ridge, Tommy let us use his quad ATV for the week, even though he used it to herd cattle. One year we were short two guys out of a four man lease due to uncontrollable circumstances. Tommy refused to charge us full price saying "It's only fair" and would only accept half the money! How many folks would do that? God bless you my friend and I'll see you on the other side where the turkeys are always gobbling.
PS- Note the NWTF hat Tommy is wearing that we gave him.
