I shot a bearded hen yesterday that could hardly walk. It took 45 min. to get into 10 yrds., 35 min. before I could see a beard and 10 min. to come out from behind a big oak tree. When she steped out I was at full draw and it was over. While tagging I saw one of her toes was black and almost cut off. Maybe last fall a bowhunter in a treestand thought they were going to fill a tag. They do live a hard life.

Only shot 2, and the last one had an egg inside of it, when I cleaned it

I never thought to look to see if there was an egg in her.The feathers between the legs were gone but I thought they sat the nest more with the front of the breast becouse the beards kink on hens with longer beards due to sitting. I wouldn't have shot her had she not been limping so bad.

we had one we were trying to kill she looked to have about an 7 or 8 inch beard. we quit seeing her after we figured we could kill her.
