Your pocket knife is in danger

I received an email today from the Citizens Committee to Keep and Bear Arms (CCKBR) saying that U.S. Customs has issued a policy that redefines "switchblade" knives as anything that is gravity assisted, and anything that can be opened with one hand.

The email (in support of www.KnifeRights.org) said U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has reinterpreted the Federal Switchblade Act:

Note, please, that CBP's interpretation of the Federal Switchblade Act forms the basis for national, state and even local law and judicial rulings in many cases. This ruling by CBP is NOT limited to just imports. This WILL affect virtually everyone who carries a pocket knife, no matter the type!

It went on to say that 80% of pocket knives sold today are one-hand or assisted opening knives. This ruling doesn't just apply to imports, and I'll bet most of us have knives that would become illegal.
