I know it's way past Thanksgiving, but I was reading Cut n Runs Happy Thanksgiving post and thought I'd share.
Twas the day before Thanksgiving and we got descended upon by the "Tribe". The youngest daughter got off at noon o'clock and she and her family came down from Amelia Island with all their camping gear. Her husband is a Civil War re-en-actor, with all the period correct gear (wall tents, A-frame tents, sheet iron camp stoves, the works) and they set up camp on the property. It was a real cool sight to have an 1800's camp sight all set up by the pond. So I put the john-boat in the pond and the fun began.
From Wednesday until Sunday morning we had all four grand kids (the other part of the tribe came up from Orange Park part of the time) with their Moms and Dads and the two dogs. What a blast. The oldest grand kids (one is six and two are eight) all got to go bass fishing from the boat, did their own casting, hook setting and all three caught and landed bass on their own ( makes a grand-pa proud).
Later in the week the oldest grand-daughter wanted to shoot her BB gun so I set up a make shift bench rest and put a three inch target on a coffee can and set it up at 15 long steps. Her Dad told me she was getting pretty good, but, boy was I surprised. I sure wouldn't want to be a critter in the sights of her pretty pink pump up BB gun.
It was a great Thanksgiving week-end. Made a old Grand-pa really thankful to the good Lord for all he has done for me and mine.
By the way here's that target she shot with open sights.
Good Hunting to all,
Ted
