Newbie in NE Ohio

Postby Buckeye » September 18th, 2010, 4:04 pm

Just started hunting last fall (2009). This will be my first time out turkey hunting this fall. Looking forward to the new challenge of hunting turkey.

Open to any helpful tips and hints.

Any other members that live in NE Ohio that would be available to help out?

Welcome aboard, Buckeye.    Nothing better than getting out to scout.  Check your spring hunting areas first, they may hold birds this fall.  If the insects are still out during the season, you may find birds in the hayfields.  Harvested corn and bean fields adjacent to wood lots are a solid spots.  Don't forget woodlots with oak trees.   Identify roosting spots.  Roosts may be different than in the spring.

Practice your kee-kees and lower pitched gobbler yelps.   Gobs may come in silently looking for you  -be still and alert.
