I saw three longbeards this morning. They gobbled three times and i got a pretty close set up, but it was thick as dog hair in that woods and I couldn't see well. I ended up moving at the wrong time and spooked them, so I busted them to the three winds. Tomorrow morning my buddy and I will go in and hope they haven't regrouped and are looking for each other. This evening I went back to my cousin's (the honey hole) and only saw one old hen. She came to within 20 yards, but I passed. I just couldn't shoot a hen when I have hopes of getting one of those longbeards. It was a good evening as i watched bunches of squirrels and had 5 deer feed right up to me. I heard one other bird down the valley call, but it never showed. If I don't get a gobbler by tomorrow noon I think the next turkey in range after that dies. I've let about 12-15 hens and poults walk away. I learned a long time ago, opportunities have a way of drying up. So there comes a time you better shoot something.
Bust em, Bag em, thank HIm
