We start October 1st and go through October 30th here in MN. It is AWESOME to be able to hunt the entire month and not just a limited time.

We start Sept. 17, and end Dec. 31, in zones 1-5. It is closed from Nov. 17 through Nov. 28, for the deer season. Zones 6-7 close Nov. 17.

Big fan of the full month season in MN! Will probably have to do some combo turkey/waterfowl hunts down in SE MN this fall.

Ohio starts Oct. 8th . Goes for 51 days ,,,,,,,,shotgun or archery .

Last Sunday evening I was glassing 8 longbeards as they fed in a mowed CRP field , after a storm. They were scattered about . Then this hawk came diving in a caught some little vermin for his supper . One of the old gobblers craned his neck and began walking straight toward the hawk . When they were about 20 feet apart the gobbler swelled up and lifted his wings and no doubt began his fighting purr , as his head was bobbing fore and aft . The hawk lifted his wings too , which prompted the gobbler to jump toward the hawk . The hawk looked rather puny next to that gobbler . He didn't hesitate to leave once the gobbler jumped toward him .
It was neat to witness this and it reminded me of the story one of those Kentucky boys told last spring about the hen that was fighting a hawk .

Archery opens in Connecticut Sept 15th. They have a free land owner permit witch allows me to hunt on my own farm for no cost. Imagine that! Then its off to N.Y. to the camp for as many 4 day weekends as I can get, without going bankrupt or getting divorced.

oct 1 is opening day for deer/turkey archery season here in va., i got a tent blind for Christmas last year, so i do believe i will try for a turkey w/ my bow this year, very hard to draw back on one while in a treestand deer hunting, tried many times, have yet to get one, so i'm kinda looking forward to giving the blind a try, firearms season comes in on oct. 29 i believe, we have 8 weeks to hunt turkeys this fall/winter in counties that i hunt, should be fun.....have seen a couple of nice flocks while riding the roads.....we shall see
