If I were in your position , with no fall season ,, I'd be foolin' with those ornery hens every chance I could ,,,just for the experience of calling and watching . As fall approaches offering ,more kee kee's and immature jake gobbles ,,,,,they can really put on a show sometimes . Being able to actually watch the birds make their calls and go through their continual pecking order threats and fights will help you in the ''realtime'' turkey woods , whether spring or fall . Also I would encourage you to learn the difference in the hen yelp and the tom yelp , as well as their , cutts , clucks , cackles , purrs , aggressive purrs, putts , and so forth . Being able to hear one series of yelps and know beyond doubt that it is a tom IS PRICELESS ,,,,,ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL .
