Tomorrow is the day!

The fall (gun) turkey season opens here in Southern Illinois tomorrow. Doris and I have been seeing some birds for the last week+ and hopefully we'll get on them. It's so dry here that moving around in the woods seems counterproductive but at least we should be able to hear them coming from a long way.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you all for the good wishes. We had a great day, just no turkeys. For the first time we hunted our land for birds. We'd seen several groups of jakes and thought we'd give it a try.

We were out a bit after 6:00 a.m. and hunted until noon, then back out at 1:00 p.m. and hunted until after 6:00 p.m.

We did not see a turkey but saw lots of other wildlife and enjoyed being together. We had a great supper and all in all, it was a great day.

We can't hunt today, Sunday but will be back after them on Monday.
