Bore Sighting

I have tried several bore sighting devices over the years with shotguns with limited success. I recently tried a new one from SSI that uses a green laser and it worked very well. I've written a "Product Test" article and published it at http://www.allaboutshooting.com You may find it of interest.

I have had success in guns where I could look through the bore by clamping the barrel in a vise and centering the bore on a distant object. I then move the sight to that object. Usually gets me within an inch or less. I have never looked at the lasers but their accuracy would be dependent on how close to being centered on the case they were.
I do set tools by use of a laser on the maching center I run. It is accurate to within 1/2 a frog's hair.
