Constriction

Anyone happen to know what constriction is on the Mossberg Ulti Full Turkey Choke? I can't seem to find it on the tube anywhere or even on the website.

Hey Stanley,

Yes, the exit diameter is .695 with a constriction of .080.  The nominal bore diameter of that gun is .775. Many have had the best results with that gun using chokes with an e.d. of .670 but I always encourage 835/935 shooters to try the Ulti Full choke before investing in an after-market turkey choke.

Thank you Clark. I am going with the choke tube that came with it.

I have good patterens with #5 Win HV 3 1/2 with that choke.

I forgot to mention I got 2 boxes of shells with the gun when I bought it and one of them is the Winchester HV 3 1/2" #5 shot. I'll have to try them too. What's your barrel length thundrchikin? My is 24"

If you are talking the choke for the 835 it a 695 same as the new ported one .          Billy

54,Mine is also 24" You may also want to consider the Fed.#4 or #5 with the Flitecontrol wad as I have seen this shell preform well in this gun with the non-ported choke. It is my understanding that the flitecontrol wad was designed to stay with the shot column as long as possible, a ported choke is designed to strip the wad from the shot as soon as possible and reduce recoil.It seems to me that there would be conflict between shell and choke if you used a ported choke.That does not mean not to try them as they may work great.Hope this helps.

I don't have a ported choke but I do have the ported barrel on it.

Ported barrels are more for recoil and muzzle jump, I dont believe this would affect the wad separation. The main thing is you may have to shoot it, It will let you know what it likes.

I emailed the Mossberg website to see what they had to say what the constriction is for the Ulti Mag choke tube and they said it was .695
