As many have already said, the 870 & 500 are great guns that should give you many years of service. You may also want to look at the H&R Pardner shotguns. It's a lot of gun for the money and from what I've seen, they're very well made with good barrels. They also accept the Invector/Win-Choke threaded chokes, so you have a lot of choices.

The 870 has a blued steel receiver, where the Mossberg's is anodized aluminum.  You likely won't ever have any problems with the Mossberg, but if you ever need to re-finish it, it is easier to get a gun re-blued than re-anodized. Of course, you could paint either one camoflage and just be done with it.  There are plenty of quality chokes made to fit either.
 
I have owned and hunted with both brands & either one will perform well in the field. I still have the 870 and the only reason I don't have the Mossberg is because it was stolen when my house got robbed a long time ago, then used in a robbery & damaged/ destroyed in the ensuing chase.
