Mossberg 935 or Stoeger M2000?

Postby customcutter » March 30th, 2009, 9:55 am

I am considering buying a new turkey gun.
Dicks Sporting Goods has a Stoeger M2000 combo on sale for $399.  It is a 3" auto that has a 24 and 28" barrel, a regular stock and a pistol grip stock.  It also has a turkey choke and 3 field chokes.
They also have a Mossberg 935 combo on sale for $499.  It is a 3 1/2" auto and has a 24 and 28" barrel, a TruGlo scope (that I don't like because POI changes as your eye moves when your cheek is not on the stock.)  It also comes with a turkey choke and 1 field choke.
I presently own a Mossberg 835 that patterns well with a Kicks choke and 3 1/2" , #6 Federal's.  It patterns better this year with a TruGlo Gobble Stopper choke and Hevishot 13 #5 3 1/2" shells.
I don't normally shoot past 40yds but had to last week when I didn't knock one down with the first shot.  Which do you think would be the better patterning gun for 40-50 yd shots and why?  What combination of barrel, choke, and shell?
thanks in advance,

customcutter tough call there I guess I would lean towards the 935 since you already own a 835 any chokes and things would interchange between the two guns. The M2000 sounds like a lot of gun for not a lot of money. Good luck with your choice and in your season. Maybe to simplify things you could just get them both [:)]

i would go with the 935 , as OZARKS has said . another reason would be it is american made ,,, economic stimulus,,,, and the 835 and 935 are turkey eaters .
a friend has the stoeger , no complaints from him , seems reliable .

I would go with the 935 too,I have one and love it kill just about all my turkeys with it,and I used a red dot scope too with no trouble about getting on a turkey.

The M2000 is real nice for the money I have a Mossberg too.  My preference has been the Stoeger.  I don't think they will stay at their price for too much longer.
