clark,
thanks again for your insightfulness.  i know that having a 22" barrel can limit me somewhat, i just wasn't as pleased with my nitro's as i had hoped.  the results from 12ga with nitro's was pretty amazing.  i think my expected results can be achieved, i just hope it comes sooner than later, those shells are not cheap!  i have confidence that i can kill a turkey at 40 yds right now with this gun as i had 80 hits in a 10" circle and 15 hits in the head/neck both results at 40 yards.  i would just like to optimize my pattern a little more, it was still spread out.  my buddy was shooting with me and he has an 870 youth 20 ga with a kicks 560, he had 192 hits in a 10" circle at 40 yds.  it was nearly as impressive as my 12 ga.  i will keep playing this week.  we are headed to kansas friday, i will of course keep my 12 ga with me just in case i can't get this gun where i want it by weeks end.  thanks again for all the replies everyone.

well, here is an update for anyone interested.....i did a deep clean on my gun and tried a pure gold .570 with the nitro 7's and the pattern was considerably better.  i didn't do a count, but it is easily a 40-50 yd gun.  the only problem was i couldn't get my red dot dialed in before we left for kansas for the last weekend of their season, so i had to carry the 12 ga with nitro 4x5x7.  not a bad choice though, a dead bird at 35 yds a dead bird a 55 yds (range finder).  i think i am on the right track with 20 ga, should be ready by next spring for sure!

If you're shooting Nitro straight 7's, I'd try a Rhino .555 or .550.  I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
