535 help

Postby warden » March 22nd, 2009, 7:08 pm

Hello, i just recently bought a mossberg 535 turkey/waterfowl combo. it has a 22" barrel with a xx-full choke for turkey and a 28" barrel for waterfowl. anyone shoot this gun with the short barrel? if so what shells worked best for you. any input for patterns with either barrel would be great, thanks. oh and i plan on using 3 1/2". i know but im still pretty young i can take the punishment...[:)]

Hey warden

Some guns actually pattern better with 3". I shoot Win HV 3" in mine with excellent results. I feel confident I can kill a turkey out to 40 yds. I had to adjust my sights. It was shooting high and to the left with the 22" barrel. I dont have a 28" barrel.

Hey warden!

I was skimming some old posts, and saw this one.

I have the 535 in tactical turkey, and I shoot federal 3" #4 mag shot out of it, and have had good luck with that.

You could'nt pay me to shoot 3.5's out of her. All that would be left of me would be a pair of smokin' boots!

Also, watch out for remington nitro. My gun would'nt cycle it very well.
