Still Target Shooting

The still target shooting season is now in full swing. You can see if there's a shoot in your area by visiting the NWTF site http://www.nwtf.org and then look at "NWTF In Your State" and "Shooting Events".

You'll see that several states will be holding "JAKES Take Aim" shoots. These are designed to help introduce kids 17 and under to the shooting sports. You'll also see that there are several sporting clays shoots and still target shoots combined with some of these.

I'd encourage you to participate in any of these shoots but I'd especially encourage you to consider coming out to a still target shoot. You can try your favorite turkey gun and compare your patterns to those of others. We shoot at a 3" circle, in the middle of a turkey shaped target, at 40 yards. We sit on a "low boy" stool and it really simulates turkey hunting.

It's a lot of fun! Doris and I have met some fine folks over the years and we'd really like to meet more of you personally.

When we can't hunt turkeys, it's just a lot of fun to tune up our turkey guns and shoot at some paper.
